Trace Elements in Food
The National Food Institute (DTU Food) and University of Copenhagen organize the 5th International IUPAC Symposium for Trace Elements in Food (TEF-5) in Copenhagen, 6-9 May 2014. The conference is the continuation of a series of successful symposia focusing on various issues related to the presence and function of toxic or essential trace elements in food. The TEF-5 program will consist of several topical sessions initiated with key-note lectures from renowned experts, followed by oral presentations on recent developments in the area. The conference will also include a poster session and an instrument exhibition at the same facilities, which allows further scientific highlights and the most recent technical advances to be presented. TEF-5 aims to be a forum for the exchange of new ideas and experiences among researchers in the trace element in food area with a view to provide an evidence base for policy, advice on the development of improved foods, and risk-management tools to protect public health. TEF-5 will this time also include hot scientific topics such as trace element containing nanoparticles and the use of trace element data for traceability and authentication studies.

Topics of particular interest at TEF-5 include:
· Advances in trace element analysis of food and feed
· Sources and transfer of trace elements into the food and feed chain
· Trace elements in nutrition and human health
· Trace elements in toxicology and risk assessment
· Trace elements in traceability and authentication of food
· Trace element containing nanoparticles in relation to food and feed
