Abstract

C hemistry Teacher International invites submissions for a special issue under the theme “From Concept to Classroom: Success Stories of Systems Thinking in Chemistry Education.”

Why this special issue?

  1. This call builds on two completed IUPAC projects (2017-010-1-050 and 2020-014-3-050) and the launch of a new project (2025-004-2-041), signaling growing institutional momentum to embed systems thinking into chemistry teaching and learning.

  2. Systems thinking in chemistry aims to extend beyond “green,” “sustainable,” and “circular” chemistry, helping learners tackle interdisciplinary, real-world challenges involving human and ecological well-being and planetary justice.

  3. The special issue intends to showcase 10–15 exemplar case studies from various educational levels (primary, secondary, tertiary, teacher training, professional development) that integrate systems thinking into chemistry pedagogy.
