Abstract
The article explores the debate on intentionality in legal criticism from the 1970s onwards, using as grid intentionality in literary criticism, reconstructed from a historical and systematic perspective. The main question is what the course of the debates tells us about the mechanism of knowledge-production in the disciplines involved. The concept of intentionality in criticism tends to function as a means of differentiation and distinction, while in Law intentionality seems to be part of a dynamics pointing at predictability and stability.
