Spezialbibliothek mit neuen Aufgaben. Die Bibliothek der Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung auf dem Weg von der klassischen Bibliothek zum multifunktionalen Informationszentrum

In der Informationsgesellschaft kommen auf Bibliotheken und Spezialbibliotheken insbesondere neue Aufgaben zu. Automatisierung, Digitalisierung und Virtualisierung sind die Entwicklungsstadien, in denen die Bibliotheken die infrastrukturellen Grundlagen zur Übernahme neuer Funktionalitäten legen. Die Bibliothek wird neben den gewohnten Tätigkeiten dann auch Funktionen eines Dokumentationszentrums, eines Multimediazentrums und eines Verlages übernehmen können. Am Beispiel der Bibliothek der Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung wird die funktionale Erweiterung und Anpassung an die durch die digitale Revolution und neue Telekommunikationstechnologien geschaffenen Bedingungen geschildert.

In the information society there are new tasks for libraries and special libraries. Automation, digitization and virtualization are the developments in which libraries place the infrastructural basements to embrace new functionalities. Apart from the traditional activities the library will take charge of the functions of a documentation centre, a multimedia centre and of a publishing house. The new functional enlargement and adaptation which are forced through the digital revolution and the new telecommunications technologies are demonstrated by the example of the library of the Friedrich-Ebert-Foundation.

Dans une société d'information de nouvelles tâches se présentent aux bibliothèques et aux bibliothèques spécialisées. L'automatisation, la numérisation et la virtualisation forment des étapes du développement dans lequel les bibliothèques posent les fondements infrastructuraux pour la prise en charge de nouvelles fonctions. La bibliothèque prendra, à côté des activités classiques, les fonctions d'un centre documentaire, d'un centre multimédia et d'une maison d'édition. L'élargissement des fonctions et l'adaptation aux nouvelles conditions créées par la révolution numérique et les nouvelles technologies de télécommunication sont illustrés à l'example de la bibliothèque de la Fondation Friedrich Ebert.
