Courage vs. Laziness: The Kantian Perspective between Education and Politics
Abstract
This contribution examines the key role played by courage and laziness in Kantian political philosophy, connected in particular to the possibility of promoting an education that fosters the former and which is, therefore, linked to the free public use of reason. In the first part, courage and laziness are defined from a Kantian perspective. In particular, the focus will be on the dual meanings that these two terms can have. In the second and third part, we try to understand whether or not courage is a virtue that can be taught and, if it is, how this may be done.
