Abstract
This chapter explores terminological variations in English-Chinese translations of maritime law and contextualizes them to find nuanced differences between recurring translation patterns. Corresponding translation strategies are analyzed through the lens of comparative law analysis and consequently, preferred translation variants are selected as the equivalence to the source terms. The authors’ aim is to draw legal translators’ attention to terminological variations in the English-Chinese translation of maritime law with the goal of achieving accurate translation and enhancing effective practice.
