Abstract

The theme of identity is present in different feminist currents, both in Western tradition and in Black thought. In fact, it is argued that identity can be claimed as an instrument of emancipation both from the recognition of personal history and biographical bearing, but also as a request for affirmation of the self in collective political and social struggles. Both sides must be considered: the feminist subject and the colonial subject are products of systems of domination, oppression and lack of recognition. The body becomes the terrain from which it is possible to rethink the self, starting from the experience of being a plural, relational and contextual subject.
