-
Petter Gottschalk
Abstract
This case study from Norway addresses criminal entrepreneurship in a family business. A lawyer in his own law firm admitted to embezzlement of funds on client bank accounts and had to go to prison for several years. The lawyer’s wife presented herself as a victim of the husband’s wrongdoing. However, one police investigator found it interesting that the wife had been the accountant in the husband’s law firm. The investigation revealed that the wife as an accountant had handled many of the financial transactions ordered by the husband as an attorney. A state prosecutor decided to charge the wife with money laundering of the funds that the husband had embezzled. She was convicted to prison in district court. At the time of writing this case study, she has appealed the verdict.
