Abstract

The ›Gütersteiner Gesprächsbüchlein‹ (»Güterstein Dialogue Booklet«), written for the Württemberg court in Urach in the mid-15th century, is a text that in many ways stands at the interface of different discourses, an interface that doesn’t establish static boundaries, but rather opens them up and makes visible the manifold connections, of whatever kind, which exist between different contexts. These contexts, whether determined by territorial dominion, education, medium or topography always present themselves in relational terms. This contribution explores these connections on the basis of the interface between monastery and court, written culture and orality, things and texts, knowledge of medicine or natural science and religion.
