Abstract

The study of all the texts about women in the work of Ben Sira, both in the Hebrew manuscripts and in the Greek version, allow us to identify different types of images which the sage uses to describe his female characters. The most frequent images are those relating to the woman’s body and they are concentrated especially in chapters 25-26 of the book. In this paper, we intend to concentrate our attention on the following passages: Sir 25:17-18 and 26:12 (on the bad wife) and 26:16-18 (on the good wife).
