Abstract

2 Maccabees, written in Greek, is one of the stylistically richest texts of the Septuagint. This article offers an overview of the various terms used to describe the “dying” of different people. The individual terms are semantically differentiated from one another. It becomes apparent with what care the author of 2 Macc is able to linguistically differentiate different ways of departing from life.
