Chapter 2 Nanoparticles and medicinal plants: a visualized analysis of the core and theme content of the reports in the period of 2018–2022

Abstract
Corresponding to the increases in global population and either anthropogenic or natural mediated environmental perturbations, the demand with respect to crop improvement and agricultural productivity necessitated and led to the critical searches. For this purpose, in the last decades, a great interest has been devoted to engineer and develop nanomaterials in multiple disciplines and accordingly, remarkable findings/improvements have been noted owing to the superior physicochemical properties of nanomaterials. Herein, the chapter comprises two major subgroups. The first one was oriented on the compilation of the literatures available through a traditional descriptive approach. The second group was based on the analysis of the relevant reports through a dimension reduction approach. For dimension reduction, we used Rstudio- based Bibliometrix software. In this regard, we extracted 2,000 documents in the period 2018-2022 using “nanomaterial (s)” and “medicinal plants” within the field of “agriculture” from SCOPUS database. The retrieved documents were analyzed for country and author productivity, co-occurrences of keyword and Keyword Plus as well as thematic maps. The strongly and weakly developed topics were presented. The motor themes of the documents were related antioxidant behavior of the nanomaterials, whereas niche themes were observed as toxicity of the nanomaterials. Corresponding to the documents considered in the period of last five years, gene expression like molecular analysis was categorized in emerging and declining themes as marginal or weakly developed topics. On the other hand, transversal topics as basic themes were linked to the green synthesis and silver nanoparticles, which are shared in other disciplines, as well.
