Résumé
This paper examines the grammatical theory of Nicolas Paquis de Sauvigny, professor in the University of Kharkiv. His conception of the correlation between discourse, with its universal nature, and the genius of particular languages is played up in order to demonstrate the essence of his semiological approach to linguistic phenomena.
