Scholars have increasingly noted the growing violence among soccer fans. This article points out the distinction among the forms of violence, which differ greatly in course of event, context and intensity. It is shown that contrary to the weekly aggro-stagings in the stands, violence in the exemplarily examined fan scene has moved very often beyond actual game dates.

Current empirical research data leave no doubt: Childhood in Germany is characterized by overweight, obesity and a lack of (motor-) fitness. Physical education communication is one of those social contexts, which reflects these alarming results but at the same time can point to a variety of solutions. The following paper incorporates some incongruous perspectives, including: an analysis of semantic and structural conditions for sport education resonances, a redescription of the problem as solution of the problem as well as an observation of risks and side-effects, which accompany this type of communication.

The purpose of this study was to illustrate and analyze the organizational change the Swedish voluntary sports club IF Björklöven went through in connection with the corporation formation of its representative team. The study was made with institutional theory as a theoretical frame of reference. Particularly important for the shaping of the study was a theoretical model by Greenwood and Hinings (1996). The data was collected using semi-structured interviews with seven respondents representing different parts of the organization. The results show that the change process was driven and enabled for the most part by the offer of SEK 22.5 million from an external financier. The restructuring has brought about a change in the way Björklöven thinks about the outcome, purpose, structure and goals of the organization, now that the organization is moving towards a more market-oriented way of organizing. Zusammenfassung Der Artikel analysiert den Organisationswandel und die Korporationsbildung im schwedischen Sportvereins IF Bjoerkloeven. Den theoretischen Rahmen bildet das Modell von Greenwood und Hinings (1996). Die Datenerhebung basiert auf halbstruktuierten Interviews mit sieben Vereinsvertretern in unterschiedlichen Funktionsrollen. Die Ergebnisse zeigen, dass der Vereinswandel vor allem durch das 22,5-Millionen-Angebot eines Investors angeregt wurde. Die Restrukturierung und die verstärkte Marktorientierung haben den Verein veranlasst, seine Struktur und die Vereinsziele zu überdenken.

This article presents the findings of an empirical study about learning in sport clubs. By being actively involved in their clubs’ functions, members can acquire a variety of competences that not only enable them to interact within the organisation but also in other social contexts like the working world. Furthermore, the results indicate that the sport club is a place where one learns predominantly through concrete experiences, interaction with other people and by trial and error. Conscious and purposeful learning activities seem to be less relevant. Sport clubs differ from other voluntary associations in the kind of content that can be learned as well as the members’ participation in formal learning activities.
