About this book

This is the first manuscript edition of the earliest theological writings of Paracelsus (1493/94–1541), offering powerful insights into the spirit of the early Reformation. Around the time of the German Peasants’ War (1524/25), the ardent Marian devotee transformed into a fierce critic of ecclesiastical and social injustices. The budding Biblical exegete dedicated his first commentary on the Gospel of Matthew to Luther.
