Memory profiles of children with SLI
-
Edith L. Bavin
Abstract
The chapter provides an overview of specific language impairment (SLI) and selected research focussing on the memory profiles of children with SLI. The research shows that capacity limitations are associated with SLI and problems extend beyond the verbal domain. The second part of the chapter discusses two studies in more detail, one examining the memory of children with comorbid SLI and attention deficit hyperactive disorder (ADHD), one examining the memory of 5 year-old children with SLI who were late talkers compared to resolved late talkers.
