The Löwe-Rosenberg which dates back to 1879 in its original form is the oldest legal commentary written in German. It provides the most wide ranging and fundamental commentary on the German law of criminal procedure currently available, guiding the reader not only on frequently asked questions, but also on more obscure articles. The current state of knowledge and all of the latest legal controversies are comprehensively presented. Practical application of the law is emphasized throughout and the authors and contributors come from both academia and active legal practice, ensuring a well founded and balanced discussion of all the issues.
The present volume I provides an overview of criminal proceedings with its detailed introduction and the general provisions of the German Rules of Criminal Procedure ("StPO") on jurisdiction, legal venue, exclusion of court officers, court decisions and notifications, and on time limits and reinstatement. The increasingly important European and international references are shown in detail.
Der erste Band dieser 26. Auflage ist im Dezember 2006 (Stand der Bearbeitung: Juli 2006) erschienen. In der Folgezeit traten zahlreiche Gesetze zur Änderung der Strafprozessordnung und des Gerichtsverfassungsgesetzes in Kraft. Ein erheblicher Teil dieser Änderungen konnte in die Kommentierung der jeweils betroffenen Vorschrift im Hauptwerk einbezogen werden. Der Nachtrag beschränkt sich daher im Wesentlichen auf die Kommentierung der Änderungen, die nicht im Hauptwerk kommentiert sind.
Band 13 von "Die Strafprozeßordnung und das Gerichtsverfassungsgesetz" enthält das Sachregister.
