This volume is the first to provide a complete morphological, semantic, and syntactic analysis of Old High German adjectives ending in -aht(i)/-oht(i). After an extensive examination of the sources, it describes the total of 57 formations in terms of their transmission context and then analyzes them in detail, evaluates them, and classifies them with regard to how these formations later developed in German.
This interdisciplinary volume examines the early medieval knowledge transfer that can be observed in the mixing of different vernaculars and written dialects. Its chapters encompass topics ranging from writing habits and writing situations in medieval scriptoria and key lines of tradition in Old English and Old High German texts, to lexical interferences and lexiographical issues.
