In order to obtain potential anticancer agents, hybrid compounds have been synthesized by coupling thiazolidinone and pyrazole scaffolds. Among the synthesized compounds, 2-(1,3-diphenyl-1 H -pyrazol-4-yl)-3-phenyl thiazolidin-4-one ( 4a ) was found to be the most potent based on a docking (−9.307) and binding scores (−66.46), along with good ADME parameters. In vitro anticancer activity of compound 4a shows a maximum inhibition against lung cancer (NCI-H23) cell lines with a moderate inhibition rate of 31.01%. Molecular docking studies revealed that these hybrid compounds bind well to the active site of peroxisome proliferator-activated receptors-gamma (PPAR-gamma). Doxorubicin was used as a positive control. It can be concluded that 4a having pyrazole-thiazolidinone ring systems has the potential to be developed as an anticancer agent.

A modified synthetic method for amino-terminated oligo tetramethylene oxides is presented. Diamines were synthesized via a three-step route from oligo tetramethylene oxide diol with an average molecular weight of 2000. The final step – oligoether-diphthalimide hydrazinolysis – has been improved. The yield of the target product has been shown to be more than 1.5 times higher when the molar ratio of the reacting components was changed. The oligoether-diamine and the reaction intermediates have been identified by 1 H and 13 C NMR spectroscopy. It has been demonstrated that the synthesized amine can be used as a curing agent for epoxy urethane oligomers. It is shown that the glass transition temperature of the cured elastomers is lower than −70 °C. These elastomers can be recommended for the use in the conditions of the Arctic and the Far North or Far South of the globe.

We report the high-pressure/high-temperature synthesis (11 GPa, 1300 °C) of the new compound Tb 2 SiB 2 O 8 . This rare earth borosilicate crystallizes in the orthorhombic space group Pbcn (no. 60) with the unit cell parameters a  = 13.2480(3), b  = 4.3904(1), and c  = 9.1611(3) Å. It is built up of corner-sharing [BO 4 ] tetrahedra forming infinite chains, that are connected to layers via [SiO 4 ] tetrahedra. The layers are connected via [TbO 7 ] polyhedra.

YbIrMg was obtained from a reaction of the elements in an equiatomic ratio in a sealed tantalum ampoule in a muffle furnace. The TiNiSi-type structure of YbIrMg was refined from single crystal X-ray diffractometer data: Pnma , a = 695.72(3), b = 405.84(6), c = 840.57(7) pm, wR = 0.0431, 511 F 2 values and 21 variables. A small degree of Mg/Ir mixing within the three-dimensional [IrMg] network leads to the refined composition YbIr 1.024(4) Mg 0.976(4) . The course of the cell volume in the RE IrMg series (Iandelli plot) points to trivalent ytterbium in YbIrMg.

The stannide BaRhSn 2 was synthesized by induction melting of an arc-melted RhSn 2 precursor compound with barium in a sealed tantalum ampoule. The structure of BaRhSn 2 was refined from single-crystal X-ray diffractometer data: MgCuAl 2 type, Cmcm , a = 437.56(4), b = 1242.35(10), c = 767.30(6) pm, w R 2 = 0.0845, 469 F 2 values and 16 variables. The rhodium and tin atoms form a two-dimensional [RhSn 2 ] δ − polyanionic network with short Rh–Sn (273–274 pm) and Sn–Sn (303–312 pm) distances. The large barium atoms lead to a substantial orthorhombic distortion of the (lonsdaleite-related) tin substructure, forcing a break of the Sn–Sn bond in b direction. This change in the tin substructure is reflected in the 119 Sn Mössbauer spectrum. The tin atoms exhibit a higher s electron density which is expressed in an increased isomer shift of δ = 2.08(1) mm s −1 as compared to the previously reported stannide CaRhSn 2 with a three-dimensional [RhSn 2 ] δ − polyanionic network and δ = 1.96(4) mm s −1 .

A pair of zinc(II)-based one-dimensional (1D) homologous coordination polymers, [Zn(Hdba) 2 (bib)] n ( 1 ) and [Zn(Hdba) 2 (bmib)] n ( 2 ), where H 2 dba = 3-hydroxybenzoic acid, bib = 1,4-bis(1-imidazolyl)benzene, and bmib = 1,4-bis(2-methyl-1 H -imidazol-1-yl)benzene were hydrothermally synthesized and characterized through infrared spectroscopy (IR), elemental and thermal analysis (EA), powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD), and single-crystal X-ray diffraction (SCXRD) analyses. The results revealed that 1 and 2 have the same zigzag infinite chain framework through the partially deprotonated Hdba – monodentate linkage and with μ 2 -bib bridging the Zn(II) atoms in 1 , and with μ 2 -bmib bridges for the Zn(II) atoms in 2 . For both  1 and 2 , each zinc atom has a slightly twisted tetrahedral configuration with a N 2 O 2 donor set. These chains of 1 and 2 are further connected into three-dimensional (3D) supramolecular structures through O–H···O, C–H···O hydrogen bonds and π···π, C–H···π stacking interactions for 1 , and O–H···O, C–H···O hydrogen bonds for 2 . Topologically, the 3D hydrogen-bonded organic framework or the 2D π-stacking structure of 1 can be simplified as a 4-connected dia Diamond type with a Schläfli symbol {6 6 }, or as a 4-connected sql type with a Schläfli symbol {4 4 ·6 2 } and a Shubnikov tetragonal plane net. The thermal stability and the solid-state fluorescence properties of 1 and 2 were investigated.
