Zusammenfassung Für die Ferndetektion von Propan und Methan aus der Luft wurde ein drohnentaugliches Laserspektrometer entwickelt. Die Anwendung ist die Ortung von Gasleckagen und die Warnung vor explosiven Gas-Luft-Gemischen. Neuartig ist die Ferndetektion von Propan sowie die Vereinigung von Methan- und Propandetektion in einem Messsystem. Dies wird durch die Nutzung benachbarter Absorptionslinien von Methan und Propan im Spektralbereich bei 2.968 cm −1 erreicht. Als Messmethode wird die direkte Absorptionsspektroskopie mit einem abstimmbaren Interbandkaskadenlaser (ICL) als Lichtquelle genutzt. Mit einer vier Zoll (4″-) Empfangsoptik wird das rückgestreute Laserlicht aus einer Entfernung bis zu 15 m gesammelt und anschließend verarbeitet. Um eine Flugzeit der verwendeten Drohne von ca. 30 min zu ermöglichen, wurden eine leichte Optik, Elektronik und Mechanik entwickelt, sodass die Gesamtmasse des Messsystems unter 500 g liegt. Die Auflösung des Laserspektrometers für Propan und Methan unter Laborbedingungen ist jeweils kleiner als 1 ppm·m (1 σ ). Bei Feldtests auf einem Übungsgelände des Technischen Hilfswerkes konnte Methan von einer Drohne aus sicher und empfindlich gemessen werden. Während eines Überflugs über ein künstliches Leckszenario im Kellerschacht eines Hauses (Leckrate von 1 l/min, Überflug in ca. 3 m Höhe) konnte das Leck durch eine Methankonzentrationsmessung erfolgreich identifiziert werden. Die Auflösung (1 σ -Standardabweichung) war während des Überflugs kleiner als 7 ppm·m ohne bzw. außerhalb des direkten Einflusses der Leckage, während eine maximale Leckagekonzentration von 150 ppm·m über dem Leck bestimmt wurde.

Kurzzusammenfassung Dieser Artikel befasst sich mit pyrolysebasierten elektrochemischen (Py-EC) Gassensoren zur Detektion von toxischen Verbindungen in der Raumluft. Zu diesem Zweck wurden verschiedene industriell relevante und zugleich toxische Phosgenfolgeprodukte (Säurechloride, Chlorformiate und Alkylchloride) experimentell untersucht. Diese Verbindungen wurden durch Pyrolyse als Vorstufe zur eigentlichen Gasdetektion in ein chlorwasserstoffhaltiges Pyrolysat umgesetzt. Die Responsefaktoren der einzelnen im Spurenbereich vorliegenden Spezies (1–115 vppm), die durch die Detektion von Chlorwasserstoff (HCl) im Pyrolysat mithilfe kommerzieller elektrochemischer (EC) Sensoren quantifizierbar gemacht wurden, werden im Rahmen dieser Studie diskutiert sowie der Einfluss der Luftfeuchte bewertet. Darüber hinaus werden der Einfluss der Pyrolysetemperatur sowie der Verweilzeit innerhalb der Pyrolyseeinheit als wichtige Einflussfaktoren auf die Effizienz der HCl-Abspaltung analysiert und Zusammenhänge zu den einzelnen Spezies sowie den zugrundliegenden chemischen Zerfallsreaktionen abgeleitet.

Autonomous ferries offer a promising solution to challenges in public waterway transport, such as crew shortage and environmental impact. Safe navigation requires reliable sensor performance, particularly in adverse maritime conditions like fog, rain, and low visibility. This paper evaluates LiDAR, mmWave radar, and infrared/RGB cameras under real-world conditions aboard a medium-sized autonomous ferry prototype. A virtual test field in Unreal Engine 5 was used to assess sensor configurations and field trials validated performance in varying weather conditions. Results show LiDAR’s range and density loss in fog and rain, the robustness of mmWave radar for long-range detection, and the benefit of pairing it with PTZ-mounted infrared cameras for improved tracking in low-visibility scenarios. We propose an optimized multi-sensor configuration combining these technologies to maximize perception accuracy. By linking simulation and experimental findings, this study provides actionable recommendations for weather-resilient perception systems and informs sensor fusion strategies for small to medium-sized autonomous vessels.

Zusammenfassung Kronenräder sind bedeutende Elemente in der Verzahnungstechnik und bieten durch ihre spezielle Geometrie verschiedene Vorteile, insbesondere hinsichtlich Lastverteilung und Fertigungsflexibilität. Eine präzise mathematische Beschreibung ihrer Geometrie ist essenziell für die Qualitätssicherung, da nur durch klar definierte Sollgeometrien zuverlässige Mess- und Bewertungsverfahren etabliert werden können. Bisherige Modelle, insbesondere das häufig genutzte Ersatz-Zahnstangen-Modell, bieten eine bewährte Näherung zur Beschreibung der Kronenradgeometrie und sind in der Lage, sowohl gerad- als auch schrägverzahnte Varianten abzubilden. Allerdings stößt dieses beschreibende Modell insbesondere bei der Bestimmung der Unterschnittgrenze an seine Grenzen, weswegen komplexe Erweiterungen dieses Modells entwickelt wurden aber nach wie vor auf der Annäherung des Ersatz-Zahnstangen-Modells basieren. In dieser Arbeit wird ein neuer, generierender Ansatz zur mathematischen Beschreibung der Kronenradgeometrie vorgestellt, der die Geometrie direkt aus der mit dem Kronenrad kämmenden Stirnradverzahnung ableitet. Insbesondere für geradverzahnte Kronenräder ermöglicht dieser Ansatz eine exakte Beschreibung der Geometrie, da er die Annäherung des Ersatz-Zahnstangen-Modells vermeidet. Dies erlaubt eine verbesserte, geometrische Beschreibung, insbesondere eine akkuratere Bestimmung der Unterschnittsgrenze sowie der Profilnormalen, die für die messtechnische Evaluierung von großer Bedeutung sind, und eröffnet neue Potenziale bei der optimierten Entwicklung sowie Analyse von Kronenrädern, insbesondere bei der produktionsnahen Qualitätssicherung und Messung.

The production of microstructures is becoming increasingly flexible in terms of geometry and material, requiring precise and versatile applicable geometry measurement methods. However, current optical methods depend on the optical surface response and need optically cooperative surfaces. Therefore, the indirect determination of the object geometry is proposed as a universally applicable innovative measurement method. In this method, it is not the object itself that is measured, but its imprint in a fluorescent medium. In this article, the object is therefore surrounded by a flow of fluorescent microparticles. A confocal microscope scans the space around the measurement object and the surface geometry can then be reconstructed from the fluorescence signal using model-based signal processing. Step geometries 200 µm high made of three different, optically uncooperative plastics were measured: white, slightly translucent polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), deep black polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) and green polyethylene (PE). All three materials are challenging for direct measurement using standard optical reference methods. The indirect geometry measurement presented here, on the other hand, delivers measurement uncertainties of less than 5 µm, even at steep observation angles of up to 83°.

Addressing the challenges of difficult detection and low identification accuracy for stripe defects (including axial and circumferential defects) on the outer wall of oil pipes, this paper proposes a novel nondestructive testing method based on a rotating magnetic field. This method employs rotating magnetic field excitation for dynamic magnetization of the pipe. By utilizing simulation calculations and analyzing the magnetic flux leakage signal’s features at defect locations with Empirical Mode Decomposition–Fast Fourier Transform (EMD-FFT), identification rules for the circumferential width and radial depth of stripe defects are summarized, achieving precise characterization of these defects. This provides a new approach for the accurate quantification of stripe defects on the exterior of pipelines and offers a novel methodology for the further development of measurement instruments capable of accurately identifying pipeline stripe defects.

This work presents a study regarding the expected value of the root mean square value of the residuals obtained by fitting a three-parameter sinusoidal model to a set of data points. The influence of phase noise on the signal or jitter in the sampling instants is derived from a theoretical point of view. A detailed presentation is given justifying the analytical expression proposed. Approximations are made in order to obtain a simple mathematical expression that relates the factors that play a role, namely the phase noise or jitter standard deviation, the number of data points and the sinusoidal signal amplitude. Numerical simulation results, obtained with a Monte Carlo type procedure, are presented which validate the approximations made and show the accuracy of the analytical expression for a range of parameter values. The phase noise or jitter that affected the data points was considered to be normally distributed with a null mean.

We also detail specialized data analysis techniques that transform sensor data into actionable performance metrics, facilitating integration with analytical tools and machine learning methods. The review delves into the development of specialized data analysis techniques, such as motion analysis algorithms and stroke detection methods, which extract meaningful performance metrics from sensor data. We discuss the integration of wearables with other analytical tools and the emerging role of machine learning in enhancing performance analysis. The review also addresses the current limitations of wearable technology in aquatic sports, including issues of waterproofing, signal quality, and standardization. Finally, we consider future directions in the field, including the potential of novel sensing modalities and the broader implications of wearable technology for both elite and recreational aquatic athletes.
