The paper will look at the initial and subsequent Indian government’s response to the COVID-19 focusing event. The strategy used to tackle the initial Covid-19 wave in India was copied from resource-rich countries and authoritarian countries and due to centralization bias in India’s institutions, a monocentric response to the crisis was the default instead of cooperative solutions. However, the response to the pandemic should have been by multiple decision centers and based on local and institutional knowledge, considering India’s institutions, culture, and state capacity, for a “Make-in-India” polycentric response. Solving large-scale health externalities requires coproduction to deal with nested externalities more effectively instead of monocentric global responses. I propose policy considering previous epidemic responses focusing on polycentric governance where civil society is incentivized.

In 2016, the Improper Solicitation and Graft Act entered into force in South Korea, which prohibits any improper activities that can be regarded as lobbying. The Golf industry was expected to have a direct effect from the Act since the sport of golf in Korea has been regarded as highly political. Therefore, this study focuses on the impact of the Act on the demands of golf. Our empirical analysis shows that the Act led to a decrease in the number of visitors and membership prices of private golf courses. The results indicate that those who had regarded golf as a political activity may now have little incentive to be involved in lobbying held on private golf courses.

This article studies a potential link between the middle-income trap and competition policy. It analyzes how a country’s competition policy relates to the transition process from the middle-income stage to the high-income stage, and what features of competition policy are accompanying a countryʼs successful leap from the middle-income group of countries. We find that to avoid falling into the middle-income trap, a country should have an appropriate institutional environment, which includes rigorous adherence to the rule of law, high regulatory quality, and high government effectiveness. It seems necessary to introduce competition policy as early as possible for countries in the upper middle-income stage. The quality of competition law and the independence of the competition authority must be guaranteed.

The purpose of this study is to develop an understanding of the legal framework for combatting administrative corruption in Jordan and its impact on the Jordanian economy. This paper seeks to answer its key-question which asks whether the existence of a robust legal framework for combatting administrative corruption is able to help to grease the wheels of a slow-moving economy. The study uses 2SLS econometric technique for estimating the relationship between administrative corruption and economic growth. This paper indicates one major conclusion which is the irrevocably annual loss of economic opportunities due to administrative corruption, subsequently, economic progress cannot be achieved without proper administration. The national strategy and the legal frameworks related to anti-corruption are not sufficient enough to grease the wheels for economic growth. Combatting corruption in Jordan is still facing legal and technical obstacles appeared in practice, therefore, more time to surround and prevent corruption is still needed.

National Company Law Tribunals (NCLTs) form the backbone of the institutional setup of the corporate law mechanism. The tribunals though were initially given a minimal role in the judicial procedure of the corporate world and were seen with scepticism, their significance could not be ignored for long. With the increase in insolvency disputes, the NCLTs were even given the jurisdiction to handle the cases regarding the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (IBC) and Corporate Insolvency Resolution Process (CIRP) . However, the efficiency of these tribunals has to be inspected with respect to CIRP cases for knowing the clear picture. In this paper, an economic analysis of the working of the NCLT Ahmedabad is undertaken to get a better understanding of the efficiency of the NCLTs in general. The study relies on  qualitative tools such as interviewers conducted by relevant stakeholders and observing NCLT court proceedings to capture the measurement reality of NCLT efficiency . The study also relies on descriptive statistics of time taken and recovery to measure the efficacy of NCLT.
