Making a success of the revolution
  • , and

Abstract

This concluding chapter discusses how Britain and the United States are dealing with the diversity revolution, describing the two as rich countries that are becoming even more diverse, and identifying some of the important advantages these countries have when dealing with diversity. It examines the racial cleavage in America that divides blacks from all the others, as well as the hard realities faced by the African Americans. The chapter notes that the arrival of President Obama will not reverse these realities any time soon, and that there is a stripping down of identity to a single dimension of religion or ethnicity. It determines that Barack Obama is currently reshaping perceptions about race by removing old ideas on what minorities can or cannot do.
