4 The Evolution of Approaches to Measure Recovery Capital

  • , , and

Abstract

This chapter provides an overview of various approaches to measuring recovery capital. We introduce 13 questionnaires specifically developed for this purpose, including a review of the literature on the psychometric evaluation of these questionnaires. Additionally, the chapter provides an overview of alternative measurement approaches, including approaches that are suitable for online settings where using traditional questionnaires may not be optimal. The chapter will conclude with a review of the strengths and limitations of the existing recovery capital measures and potential future directions for scale development. Practical guidance for selecting the most suitable recovery capital measurement approach is also provided.
