Abstract
Communication is central to socio-educational interventions, especially in group parental support programmes within the child protection system. Effective communicative processes can significantly impact the professional–family relationship and enhance family participation and empowerment. This chapter focuses on improving communication in these settings to foster engagement and positive outcomes.
It identifies barriers in communicative processes by reviewing previous evaluations of three socio-educational group programmes for families in child protection and presents tools designed to overcome these communicative barriers.
Key communication challenges are identified and discussed alongside tools developed to aid professionals in reflecting on communication and group dynamics and enhance participatory practices in child protection. It is concluded that further research is needed to validate these tools and assess their impact on both professionals and participants.
