Abstract
This chapter documents the brief but intense period of development of public policy education in Colombia in recent years. It examines the characteristics of existing educational programs in terms of their potential to contribute to capacity building across actors and sectors. It also provides a descriptive overview of the roles of specific governmental and nongovernmental actors in policy analysis, and the application of policy analysis within various policy realms. The chapter reviews the public policy education in Colombia that is delivered within the context of a larger system of higher education that both facilitates and constrains its development. It gives some context for understanding the system of higher education in Colombia in terms of both its institutional structure and the mechanisms for ensuring quality.
