Abstract
The preparation of the surface for strain gauge installation is necessary. Rough surfaces have to be grinded to get smooth surfaces. In this study, the influence of the surface grinding on the residual stress conditions near the surface was studied. With the hole drilling method, several grinded surfaces are analyzed and compared with an ungrinded surface. The influences of the residual stress produced were studied using three grinding disks.
