In celebration of the 700th anniversary of the birth of Dante in 1265 the Dante Society of Toronto invited six internationally known scholars to address its members. Together, these contributions indicate the range and direction of Dante studies in North America today.

S. Bernard Chandler (1921-1999) was a professor of Italian and Hispanic Studies, University of Toronto and President of the Dante Society of Toronto 1964-65 during the special programme of lectures celebrating the 700th anniversary of Dante's birth.
Molinaro Julius :Julius A. Molinaro is a professor emeritus of Italian and Hispanic Studies, University of Toronto and the founder of the Dante Society of Toronto in 1957. He served as the Canadian representative on the 1965 Dante Centenary Committee of America.
