Abstract

The molecular structure of the title complex [ZnCl2(C7H6N2)2] was investigated by X-ray diffraction and IR spectroscopy. The Zn(II) complex crystallizes triclinically (P1̅ (no 2); a = 7.440(2) Å, b = 7.734(2) Å, c = 13.3127(4) Å, α = 85.91(2)°, β = 85.97(2)°, γ = 83.05(5)°, Z = 3; V = 757.3(3) Å3). In the molecular structure, the Zn atom is coordinated tetrahedrally by two Cl anions and two benzimidazole ligands.
