Abstract

Dimethyl sulfone is orthorhombic with a = 7.36 Å, b = 8.04 Å, c = 7.34 Å. The space group is Cmcm and there are four molecules per unit cell. The molecules are distorted tetrahedra with C2v symmetry, a S–O bond length of 1.44 Å, a S–C bond length of 1.78 Å, a C–S–C angle of 103.0°, and an O–S–O angle of 117.9°.
