Abstract

The structure of a synthetic imidazo-purine has been determined by an x-ray analysis making use of the phase-determining properties of a heavy atom in the molecule. The molecule has been shown to be 9-β-chloroethyl-7,8-dihydro-9H-imidazo-[2,1-i]purine. The x-ray analysis was undertaken to resolve some ambiguities in the determination of the structure by traditional chemical means.
