Published/Copyright: September 25, 2009

Abstract

A probably unique amulet of a calving cow made of light-green faience with brown and black spots is discussed in detail. The object can be dated to the Libyan period and can further be understood as an example for an archaism of the well known scene of the birth of a calf. Moreover, the amulet can be identified as a talisman d'heureuse maternité.
