Dieser stand unter der Führung Ante Pavelics und der Ustascha-Organisation und wurde rasch zu einem Feld rivalisierender italienischer und deutscher Interessen. Die Autoren beleuchten Charakter und Geschichte dieses scheinsouveränen Regimes, dessen Existenz vom Kampf gegen die Partisanen Titos und Mihajlovics geprägt wurde und das sich durch die brutale Verfolgung der serbisch-stämmigen Bevölkerung selbst desavouierte.
