Zusammenfassung
Ellen M. Wood hat mit ihrer Studie „Retreat from Class. A ‚new true socialism“ bereits 1986 eine überzeugende Kritik des Postmarxismus vorgelegt. Der Artikel zeichnet deren zentrale Punkte nach und zeigt, dass diese auf einer innovativen Interpretation des historischen Materialismus beruhen, die als ‚politischer Marxismus‘ bezeichnet wird. Gleichwohl bleibt zu fragen, ob Woods Kritik nicht zugleich Annahmen des klassischen Marxismus reproduziert, die historisch wie systematisch zweifelhaft sind.
Abstract
Already in 1986 Ellen M. Wood had submitted a convincing critique of Postmarxism with her study „Retreat from Class. A „new true socialism“. The article traces central points and shows that they are based on an innovative interpretation of historical materialism called 'political Marxism'. Nevertheless, it remains to be asked whether Wood's criticism does not at the same time reproduce assumptions of classical Marxism, which are both historically and systematically doubtful.
