Abstract
The article offers a discussion of a supposed new Egyptian loanword in the book of the prophet Ezekiel proposed by Jonathan Thambyrajah in 2021. The proposal that אֶלְגָּבִישׁ (Ez 13,11.13; 38,22) is a loanword from the Egyptian language can be firmly rejected due to many linguistic and cultural-historic problems.

Der Artikel diskutiert ein vermeintliches neues ägyptisches Lehnwort im Buch des Propheten Ezechiel, das 2021 von Jonathan Thambyrajah vorgeschlagen wurde. Seine These, wonach es sich bei אֶלְגָּבִישׁ (Ez 13,11.13; 38,22) um ein Lehnwort aus der ägyptischen Sprache handle, kann mit Nachdruck aufgrund vielfältiger linguistischer sowie kulturhistorischer Probleme zurückgewiesen werden.

Cet article discute d’un prétendu mot d’emprunt égyptien dans le livre du prophète Ezéchiel, proposé par Jonathan Thambyrajah en 2021. La proposition selon laquelle אֶלְגָּבִישׁ (Ez 13,11.13; 38,22) est un emprunt à l’égyptien peut être fermement rejetée en raison de nombreux problèmes linguistiques et historico-culturels.
