Summary

The study presents an analysis of a large hieratic liturgical ostracon discovered among the burial equipment of the owner of the Abusir shaft tomb AW6, Wahibremeryneith. The text contains an ascension liturgy based on Spells 251–253 and 249 of the Pyramid Texts. A study of its content and parallels shows that in its basic form, the liturgy was formed in the late(?) Middle Kingdom and standardized sometime prior to the writing down of the text of Wahibremeryneith, most likely at the time of heightened archaizing tendencies at the turn of the Third Intermediate and Late Periods. It then remained in use at least until the 30th Dynasty.
