Die wichtigste Voraussetzung zur Aufhebung entfremdeter Produktions- und Lebensverhältnisse ist das Bewußtsein von der Einheit von Leib und Seele, von Gefühl und Begriff. Matthias Mayers Studie erinnert nicht nur an die Relevanz von Schellings Naturphilosophie für die neomarxistische Theoriebildung, insbesondere bei Ernst Bloch, sondern exponiert darüber hinaus auch deren kritisches Potential zur Analyse und Solution reifikatorischer Prozesse der Gegenwart, das heißt der Krise des Kapitalismus in seinem postmodernen Stadium: Das »Unbedingte« der Frühromantik wird zum Gegenbegriff der »Verdinglichung«.
