Résumé
Dans La Sémiologie de l'écriture, Harris s'étonne de la définition de la science des signes de Saussure. “La vie des signes au sein de la vie sociale”: comment comprendre l'insistance? Quelle(s) relation(s) ces deux vies entretiennentelles? En définissant le texte comme un “fragment culturel” et le travail scientifique comme un processus d'attribution d'une “fonction documentaire” au texte, cet article propose d'apporter des éléments de réponse à ces questions à partir de l'élaboration de trois scénarios d'observation qui montrent, ensemble, comment la textualisation de l'objet engage déjà une représentation de sa place dans la culture.
