Abstract
In 2009, during research of a cemetery of the Wielbark culture in Czarnówko (Lębork District, Pomerania), an inhumation grave was discovered, which contained the remains of a wooden bowl with copper alloy fittings. Inside it, several hazelnuts were preserved. This vessel, in the light of the analysis carried out, was made of alder wood using a turning technique. Discoveries of this type are not only rare in the area of the Wielbark culture, but also in the rest of Central European Barbaricum. This article presents the results of the archaeobotanical research and demonstrates the bowl in the broader context of Roman Period discoveries.
Zusammenfassung
Im Jahr 2009 wurde bei der Untersuchung eines Gräberfeldes der Wielbark-Kultur in Czarnówko (Kr. Lębork, Pommern) ein Körpergrab entdeckt, das die Überreste einer Holzschale mit Beschlägen aus einer Kupferlegierung enthielt. In ihrem Inneren waren mehrere Haselnüsse erhalten. Die durchgeführten Analysen haben ergeben, dass dieses Gefäß aus Erlenholz in einer Drechseltechnik hergestellt wurde. Funde dieser Art sind nicht nur im Gebiet der Wielbark Kultur, sondern auch im mitteleuropäischen Barbaricum selten. Die vorliegende Arbeit stellt die Ergebnisse einer archäobotanischen Untersuchung vor und ordnet die Schale in den größeren Kontext der Funde aus römischer Zeit ein.
Streszczenie
W 2009 r. podczas badań cmentarzyska kultury wielbarskiej w Czarnówku (pow. Lębork, Pomorze) odkryto grób inhumacyjny, w którym znajdowały się resztki drewnianej misy z okuciem ze stopu miedzi. W jej wnętrzu zachowało się kilka orzechów laskowych. Naczynie to w świetle przeprowadzonych analiz zostało wykonane z drewna olchy z użyciem techniki toczenia. Odkrycia tego rodzaju są nie tylko rzadkie na terenie kultury wielbarskiej, ale i pozostałych rejonów środkowoeuropejskiego Barbaricum. W artykule przedstawiono wyniki badań archeobotanicznych i zaprezentowano misę w szerszym kontekście odkryć z okresu rzymskiego.
