Papers published in Pure and Applied Chemistry (PAC) come from three distinct areas viz., IUPAC Recommendations, Technical Reports, and scientific papers presented at Conferences or invited for Special Issues. A rigorous review process of these manuscripts is essential for maintaining the high standards of the journal demanded by the scientific community. We would like to thank all of those who have contributed to this process for your dedication and invaluable assistance. We know that you are having increasing demands on your time, and that the ever continuing expansion in the number of scientific papers published is reflected by large number of requests you receive to referee papers. Scientific papers typically require reports from 2 to 3 reviewers, while IUPAC Recommendations need considerably more, up to 15 reviews. The fact that the scientific community has allowed us to fulfill this obligation is a testimony to its dedication to some of the important aspects of IUPAC activities. To all of you, thank you!
In this first issue of 2017, we present more papers from the highly successful 16th International Conference on Polymers and Organic Chemistry (POC-16). The Guest Editorial for this by Professor Kostas D. Demadis was published in the December 2016 issue of the journal [Pure and Applied Chemistry, 88, 1101 (2016)].
