    Yuanjie Pang (back row on the left) received his BEng degree from the University of Victoria in 2008, with the highest graduating GPA in the department. He received his PhD degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Victoria in 2012. He has received a University of Victoria Fellowship in 2008, an IEEE Victoria Section Gold Medal in Electrical Engineering in 2009, the Jarmila Vlasta Von Drak Thouvenelle Graduate Scholarship in 2010, a Chinese Government Award for Outstanding Self-Financed Students Abroad in 2011, and an Albert Hung Chao Hong Scholarship in 2011. Dr. Pang joined the University of Michigan as a Postdoctoral Fellow in 2012.

    Reuven Gordon (back row on the right) received his PhD in Physics from the University of Cambridge (2003). In 2002, he joined the University of Victoria, where he currently holds a Canada Research Chair in Nanoplasmonics and an Associate Professor position in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. In 2009, Dr. Gordon was a visiting Professor at the Institute for Photonic Sciences (Spain). He has received a Canadian Advanced Technology Alliance Award (2001), an Accelerate BC Industry Impact Award (2007), an AGAUR Visiting Professor Fellowship (2009), and the Craigdarroch Silver Medal for Research Excellence (2011).
