Moderne Komplementanalytik Indikationen – Methodik – Perspektiven/Modern complement analysis: indications, methods and outlook

Zusammenfassung
Das Komplementsystem ist eines der Schlüsselsysteme der angeborenen Immunität und der Homöostase. Eine überschießende Komplementaktivierung, aber auch das Fehlen einzelner Komplementkomponenten oder -regulatoren können lebensbedrohliche Zustände verursachen. Die zum Krankheitsverständnis notwendigen Grundlagen, Indikationen für eine Komplementdiagnostik, die Interpretation der Resultate sowie therapeutische Interventionsmöglichkeiten sollen in dieser Übersichtsarbeit detailliert dargestellt werden.
Abstract
Complement is one of the key systems of innate immunity and homeostasis. Its excessive activation but also a deficiency of complement components or regulators can lead to life-threatening conditions. This review aims to provide the basic knowledge that clinicians need in order to understand complement-related diseases. Moreover, it shows possible indications and interpretations of a complement analysis and explains the rationale behind complement-targeted therapies.
