Hope, Meaning, and the Goodness of Life on the Whole: A Trauma-Informed Eschatological Practical Theology

Abstract
This article proposes that one task of eschatological practical theology is to provide a vision of hope in which hope is defined as providing meaning. It also proposes that the context in which hope is offered is one in which individuals and communities experience horrendous evils that require reparative work done by God and the wider community as part of the work of legacy. Drawing on the work of Marilyn McCord Adams and Pamela McCarroll, it concludes that eschatological practical theologians can participate in this work of legacy in order to co-construct the world that God intends.
Zusammenfassung
In diesem Artikel wird vorgeschlagen, dass eine Aufgabe der eschatologischen praktischen Theologie darin besteht, eine Vision der Hoffnung zu vermitteln, in der Hoffnung in erster Linie als sinnstiftend definiert wird. Es wird dargelegt, dass der Kontext, in dem Hoffnung angeboten wird, ein Kontext ist, in dem Einzelne und Gemeinschaften schreckliche Übel erfahren, die Wiedergutmachungsarbeit durch Gott und die breitere Gemeinschaft als Teil der Arbeit des Vermächtnisses erfordern. Unter Bezugnahme auf die Arbeiten von Marilyn McCord Adams und Pamela McCarroll kommt der Beitrag zu dem Schluss, dass eschatologische praktische Theologen an dieser Vermächtnisarbeit teilnehmen können, um die von Gott gewollte Welt mitzugestalten.
