James E. Caron is Professor Emeritus of English at the University of Hawaiʽi, Mānoa. He has published many articles on comic writers and comic artifacts. In addition, he has authored
Mark Twain, Unsanctified Newspaper Reporter (2008) and co-edited a collection of essays on Charlie Chaplin, entitledRefocusing Chaplin: A Screen Icon in Critical Contexts (2013). His new book isSatire as Comic Public Sphere: Postmodern “Truthiness” and Civic Engagement . He is the former president of the American Humor Studies Association and senior associate editor of its journal,Studies in American Humor .
