Abstract
In this paper we demonstrate that using mu negative transmission lines (MNG TLs) in a parallel coupled line coupler, an enhanced directivity coupler can be achieved. For increasing directivity, the even and odd mode electrical lengths should be equal. According to this fact and using the even and odd mode analysis, closed form expressions are obtained for circuit model elements of the proposed coupler. Verification of the proposed circuit topology performance is demonstrated by designing a coupler with specified characteristics.
