Analytic functions on Zariski open sets, and local cohomology

Abstract
We give a new proof of a theorem of Siu and Trautmann on the vanishing of cohomology with support on complex or rigid analytic spaces. We indicate how our methods might be used to prove various comparison theorems in algebraic and analytic geometry.
