Democratic versus Autocratic Communications: A Comparison of American News and the German Nachricht

Summary
News and Nachrichten are expressions of mass cultures and as such are symptomatic of the political styles that produce them. Thus, the comparative analysis of an American television newsshow and a German Nachrichten telecast is a study of how people relate to each other, their groups, organizations, and societies in their countries. At the same time, a comparative media case study keeps an eye on how the different concepts could or do relate to each other. In today’s internationally interdependent environment where parochial conflicts turn into global issues, communications structures and the political understandings guiding them have to be able to confer.
Résumé
Les news américains comme les Nachrichten allemandes sont des expressions des cultures de masses pour lesquelles ils sont symptomatiques en reflétant leurs styles de politique. L’analyse comparée d’une télé-newsshow aux Etats-Unis et d’une émission des Nachrichten allemandes explore la façon d’agir les uns envers les autres des individus, des groupes, des organisations et des associations. Au même temps, une étude de cas comparée sur les médias envisage de sonder si et comment les concepts differents soient conciliables. Dans le cadre politique international et interdépendant d’aujourd’hui, des conflits particuliers deviennet des problèmes globaux en vitesse. Là, il est souhaitable que les structures de communication et les concepts de politique en arrière soient corrélatives.
Zusammenfassung
Amerikanische news und deutsche Nachrichten können als der jeweilige Ausdruck einer Massenkultur verstanden werden, für die sie symptomatisch sind und deren politische Stile sie reflektieren. Die vergleichende Analyse einer Fernseh-Newsshow aus den USA und einer deutschen Fernseh-Nachrichtensendung ist eine Studie darüber, wie einzelne Individuen, Gruppen, Organisationen oder Vereinigungen sich in ihren Ländern gegeneinander verhalten. Zudem soll eine vergleichende Medien Fall-Studie untersuchen, ob und wie die verschiedenen Konzepte miteinander vereinbar sind. Im heutigen international interdependenten politischen Raum, in dem partielle Konflikte schnell zu globalen Problemen werden, ist es wünschenswert, daß Kommunikationsstrukturen und die dahinterliegenden politischen Konzepte korrelieren.
