Glossary on Renewable Chemistry
Nowadays, the increased relevance of the bioeconomy1 has contributed to the development of emerging branches of chemical sciences, such as green chemistry2 and biorefineries,3 which seek a renewable chemistry. Institutions around the world, such as NREL (National Renewable Energy Laboratory, USA), and ILI (International Lignin Institute, Europe) have worked on biomass terms and analytical methodologies;4,5 nevertheless, there is not a comprehensive glossary that comprises technical and scientific terms in renewable chemistry to help students, professionals, and researchers. This project seeks to fill this editorial gap and will result in the preparation and publication of a nomenclature guide—an IUPAC Glossary—related to biomass chemistry and green chemistry.
