Abstract
This paper analyses the terminology for “present” and “giving a present” in the context of Middle Assyrian documents related to the palace. This terminology is specific to the genres of these texts and to the languages (Babylonian and Assyrian) used in them.
Note
This article is the expanded English version of a paper read in Spanish on 11 December 2019, at the VIII Congreso Nacional Español del Centro de Estudios del Próximo Oriente, Ex oriente ad limina, La Coruña (Spain). Unfortunately, the recent edition of the Assyrian coronation ritual by Schaudig (2020: nos. 1–5) could not be taken into consideration.
