The Concept of Predestination in Christianity

  • Jesse Couenhoven

Jesse Couenhoven is Professor of Moral Theology in the Villanova University Humanities and Theology Departments. His first book, Stricken by Sin, Cured by Christ, takes up the problem of whether we can be responsible for communal evils. His second book, Predestination: A Guide for the Perplexed, discusses questions about freedom raised by the idea that God directs our ultimate ends. He recently led a $4.7 million Templeton foundation grant sponsoring “Collaborative Inquiries in Christian Theological Anthropology”. He is currently working on articles about the moral psychology of children's agency, and a book about divine and human anger, and forgiveness. He has held fellowships from the Center of Theological Inquiry, the Center for Public Justice, the Penn Humanities Forum, the University of Chicago, and Florida State University.
