The 1495 and 1505 fable collections (Hecatomythia) by Italian Renaissance author Laurentius Abstemius are part of a long tradition with a broad reception. So far, an edition of the two fable books had been missing from European fable and motif studies. This volume is the first to present an edition of both Hecatomythia, complete with a German translation and analysis of their sources and reception history.
